Belle- Anime Review

As you probably know, I'm a Mamoru Hosoda fan so when I saw there is a new movie by her, I had to get it. I got the Target exclusive steelbook edition because I liked the cover better. It looks like a great science fiction or fantasy so, my hopes are high this will be another masterpiece.

Suzu is an introverted high school student who lives in a small village. For years, she's only been the shell of herself. When she enters U, she escapes reality by becoming Belle a beautiful and loved singer. A monster chased by vigilantes ruins her concert. She must discover the identity of the creature and her true self in a world where you can be anything and anyone.

Hosoda as done it again with this mix of Summer Wars and Beauty and the Beast story. I had no idea what to expect, but I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. I kind of relate to the story from back when I was in high school on an avatar game trying hard to be an idealistic person, but now I know it's best to be yourself. If you want a story on how far tech can go with avatars with a dash of fairy tales then I'd fully recommend Belle.
