Black Bird- Manga Review
Updated: Nov 8, 2018

Black Bird is a manga I read once at the library loved it and nearly forgot about it until I was browsing through eBay and bought all 18 volumes for only $60(considering each volume brand new is $10, $60 is a steal for 18). I just recently reread this series and before I give my thoughts on it let's see the plot.
Black Bird is a manga I read once at the library loved it and nearly forgot about it until I was browsing through eBay and bought all 18 volumes for only $60(considering each volume brand new is $10, $60 is a steal for 18). The Plot Misao Harada is not your average high school student as she can see demons and spirits. For 16 years she has seen them, and all but her childhood friend Kyo no one else has seen them or suffered from them. Upon, her 16th birthday she reunites with Kyo and finds out he is a Tengu (a crow demon, but he looks human with black wings), and finds out she is the Senka Maiden. Once every 100 years a Senka Maiden is born a human girl who smells of peaches(which is what Senka means) and has amazing powers for demon kind. If her blood is drank they will get amazing power, if her flesh is eaten they will be immortal, and if he is wed to a clan leader their clan will prosper. Kyo the Clan leader of the Tengu Clan wishes to marry Misao so while she won't be eaten, she may have to marry a demon to save her life, but can she truly love him? My Review Black Bird was good on my rereading of this and while it is a romance it is also a tragedy on how 2 different people try to survive in a world who doesn't understand them, and how their love might bring pain and suffering. While used to like this manga, I can only give it a 7/10 for how I felt some things were handled that I wish were done better now that I'm older.
