Pumpkin Flavored Sweets and Strange Things- Food Reviews

What is the fall season without Pumpkin flavored items? Every year candy, treats, and even things that shouldn't be pumpkin-fied come out into stores counting on curious people like me to try them. Lets check out this years offerings of the good, bad and weird of pumpkin flavored items.

1. Swiss Maid Pumpkin Pecan Fudge

I got this fudge in Wis. Dells on Vacation recently and had to get it. If you can't wait, to go to Dells Swiss Maid does mail their fudge to your door.

Review: The fudge has a nice sweet pumpkin bread like flavor. Fudge is also soft with pecan pieces inside. If you want a good pumpkin fudge, try Swiss Maid.

2. Prairie Farms Pumpkin Spice Milk

Prairie Farms is milk company serving Illinois. They also make juice, yogurt, tea, and ice cream. This year is Prairie Farms 80th Anniversary, so lets see if this strange flavored milk is worth it.

Review: This tastes just like if you put a pumpkin pie in a blender like a pumpkin pie milkshake. I hope I can find this every year for thanksgiving.

3. Pumpkin Spice Cheerios

Cheerios has always made limited edition flavors. Pumpkin Spice Cheerios comes every year in the fall. The cereal is made with real pumpkin and spices and is gluten free like all Cheerios cereal.

Review: The cereal has a strong taste of pumpkin, and the spice is a bit off from usual pumpkin spice. I will likely be able to finish the box but this likely won't be a fall staple for me.

4. Carr Valley Pumpkin Butter

I got this also in Wis. Dells from Carr Valley cheese store where they sell a lot of local made cheese and other Wisconsin products and even make their own products like this pumpkin butter.

My Review

The pumpkin butter tastes sweet and has the texture closer to jam than butter. You can easily taste the pumpkin and brown sugar, and they make a good combo. I will enjoy finishing the rest of this jar.

5. Kernel Popcorn's Pumpkin Pie Flavored Popcorn

Kernel Popcorn's popcorn is located in Wis. Dells by Pirate's Cove Mini-Golf courses. The Popcorn is made locally, and they have many strange flavors unfortunately I can't afford to review all of those flavors.

My Review

These popcorn taste like pumpkin pie, and the white icing makes you imagine whip cream on the pie. I enjoy the sweet pumpkin taste, and will be sad when I finish this bag.

6. Pumpkin Spice Cough Drops

Yes, you read that right CVS decided to get into the pumpkin spice fad as well with their own brand of cough drops. Popcorn, fudge, and cereal I understand but how do you come up with the idea to make pumpkin spice flavored cough drops?

My Review

These taste like pumpkin flavored candy I don't taste much of the spice but it probably is better that way. I will use these if I do have a cold next time they aren't that bad.

Overall Review

I doubt I'll be able to top the pumpkin spice cough drops but considering the worst tasting was the cereal I could do worse. Maybe next year, I'll find more interesting pumpkin flavored items to try as every year they come out with more strange pumpkin spice things. I hope you enjoyed discovering some of the strange things the world creates to make money. Have a Happy Thanksgiving
