Rorouni Kenshin- Anime Review

Since I reviewed Hakuoki, I'm now on a Historical Japanese kick, so of course I have to review one of the most well known historical anime, Rurouni Kenshin. I think I saw season 1 a few times, but I never completed this series. I remember the character Kenshin the most to the point when I did TNR I named one of the strays with a scar on his cheek, Kenshin. Not to mention there will be a remake soon. Let's take a look at this samurai wielding his sword backwards.

Plot

The Meiji Era that takes place after a long civil war is a time of peace where swords and killing is outlawed. Unfortunately, peace exists only on the surface, as in the shadows warriors seek revenge. Only the former government assassin who was once the "Battousai the ManSlayer," Kenshin Himura can keep the peace. He now is a lone wanderer who ends up at the Kamiya Dojo to try start a new life. Can Kenshin stay true to his new ideals or will he go back to being a killer?

Review

I enjoyed the first 2 seasons the third just seemed to be a bunch of short stories that weren't really connected, but still good. The ending wasn't anything to write home about either. It's kind of a shame the ending didn't really tie up loose ends or anything it just kind of exists. The characters were great and developed and while there is a hint of romance this is an shonen series so expect a lot of action, plot armor, and constantly getting stronger to overcome your foes. At the end of the day, it deserves to be considered a classic and a watch, but it's debatable if you need to see it multiple times. If you like historical Japan with samurai and ninjas and a dash of love than give this classic a watch before it is remade.
