All I know of this series is that it's from the creator of Your Lie in April. It's been awhile since I have seen a slice of life drama, mostly because I'm not a huge fan of the genre. I did enjoy Your Lie in April though so maybe I'll enjoy this?

Plot

Rei Kiriyama, being one of the elite Shoji players, is under a lot of pressure from his adoptive family and the Shoji community. Wanting to escape the stressful home life he moves to Tokyo.

Not long after the move he meets a family of sisters and their grandfather who runs a wagashi shop. He quickly finds the normal family life he never had.

Review

I couldn't get into this anime at all. I don't know if its the Shogi or the drama but even to the end I just didn't care for it. The 45 episodes felt like a slog to get through and while I giggled a couple of times it just wasn't for me. Some characters I kind of liked and some of the imagery was neat, the story itself just didn't grab me. If you like Shogi and tons of drama in everyday life this might tickle your fancy.

This is another Sentai sale grab. The cover looked so ridiculous that I had to get it. All I know is its a school comedy so I'm going in blind.

Plot

Sakamoto is the coolest guy in school to the point guys and girls look at him with awe. He doesn't know his popularity nor does he take advantage of it - he is cool without even trying! This drives people crazy, but the more they challenge Sakamoto the more they admire his greatness.

Review

This anime was so similar to Saiki at first I thought i'd enjoy it. Overall it was an okay anime, it's just while Saiki didn't want attention it seemed to be that Sakamoto was just a show off. I didn't really get to know any of the characters other then the fact they went from hating Sakamoto to being obsessed with him. If you like a cool character that is likely all you're going to get with this series.

As a cat owner and lover myself it was only a matter of time before I looked at cat themed anime shows. This one has been on my radar for a while and since my anime is packed away due to moving - time to watch a Crunchyroll series.

Plot

Subaru Mikazuki is an introverted mystery novel author, he prefers reading a book alone than dealing with people; and since his parents died years ago, he is completely alone.

When giving offerings to his parents grave he finds a black and white cat and decides to keep her. Haru the cat is grateful, but it seems Subaru forgets to feed himself even though she always has food. While Subaru is forced to interact with new people to learn cat care, Haru tries to make sure her human eats so he doesn't pass out!

Review

This anime is a unique cat anime as we get to see events told from both Subaru's perspective and Haru's point of view. Haru, when you can hear her thoughts, is fairly realistic on what a cat thinks of things. Subaru and Haru's worlds open when they meet and grow a unique bond. I also like the cats and people we meet throughout the series that expand the world and enrich it. If you want a series told from both a cat and her human's, then don't forget to dive into My Roommate is a Cat!
